History was made for high school girls basketball. Jewish Hoops America (JHA) along with Hustle & Heart Sports hosted the first-ever FIDF Invitational National Jewish girls all-star basketball game. The top 16 female players from various yeshivot across the country were selected by a JHA athletics committee. Players were divided into two teams; players from the NY/NJ yeshiva high schools (yeshiva team) against players from Jewish high schools all over the US outside of the NY/NJ area (national team).
The Yeshiva League All Stars included seniors Merle Kassab of Flatbush; Galil Neuer and Samantha Pruzansky of yeshiva league champion Frisch; Ayelet Ostrin of Ma’ayanot; and Clara Rosen of SAR; and juniors Leila Sakhai of Ramaz, Shirel Kashimallak of NHSA, & Daphna Steinmetz of SKA. Playing for the National team were seniors Meira Falk of Berman Hebrew Academy; Arielle Grossman and Yalee Schwartz of JHA Nationally ranked #1 Shalhevet; Mia Meldung of Donna Klein Jewish Academy; Ilana Schwartz of Ida Crown; and Shani Schwartz of Jewish Day School; and juniors Kira Heumann of YULA and Lilly Yalovsky of Yavneh Dallas.
Players flew in on Thursday and everyone participated in team practices Friday afternoon at SAR Academy. Coach Ryan Coleman from Shalhevet High School coached the national team and Lee Joffe from SAR High School coached the Yeshiva League team. After their respective team practices, the girls spent an inspiring Shabbat together in Teaneck and headed out for their game motzei Shabbat.
On Saturday evening, the Panzer Athletic Center at Montclair State University was filled with friends, family, fans, and basketball scouts coming to watch the girls play. The night started off with the Frisch Choir singing a stellar rendition of Hatikvah and The National Anthem. Spectators were treated to a performance from the Ramaz dance team, heard from an FIDF representative and a lone solider, and had a chance to see a friendly 6th/7th grade girls Hustle & Heart scrimmage at halftime.
At the start of the game, the national team took a quick lead with Ida Crown Senior Ilana Schwartz making an early steal and assist to Akiba Yavneh Junior Lilly Yalovsky for the first basket of the game. The national team went on a 5-0 run before Ramaz Junior, Leila Sakhai changed the momentum of the game hitting one of her multiple 3 pointers to bring the Yeshiva team back into the game. Yeshiva’s SKA junior Daphna Steinmetz proved to be reliable both outside and driving hard. Both teams showed off their talents and went basket for basket, ending the first quarter with a tight 22-21 lead by the national team.
In the second quarter, Shalhevet Senior Yalee Schwartz and Yula Junior Kira Heumann both showed strong defense, rebounding skills, as well as reliable shooting helping the national team widen their lead at the half to 51-42. In the third quarter Frisch Senior Samantha Pruzansky continued to crash the boards and showcase her reliable free-throws. With further help on offense from SAR senior Clara Rosen, the yeshiva team ended the quarter down but closing the lead 72-66.

Donna Klein Senior, Mia Meldung displayed stellar court vision and passing skills, as well as leading her team offensively, capping off the 4th quarter with 19 points. And it culminated with a packed arena and a fun high level game of basketball. It is amazing how far yeshiva girls high school basketball has come and I am so grateful to be a part of it.”
2025 Girls MS All Stars
3/9/2025 at Yeshivat He’atid
On Sunday evening March 9, Hustle & Heart Sports hosted the first ever New Jersey vs. New York Girls All-Star Invitational. The game took place at Yeshivat He'Atid's newly constructed gym in Teaneck, NJ. With a packed gym, the event featured standout female basketball players from various yeshivot in the NJ and NY area. Based on the breakdown of many different leagues, the players on these teams do not typically get to face off against each other during their regular school basketball seasons.
All coaches were Hustle & Heart staff members who work with these girls during the Hustle & Heart basketball program that runs at the end of the summer. The NJ team was coached by Kristen Rainbolt (Moriah coach) and Shaina Gross (RYNJ coach). The NY team was lead by Mary Beth Chambers (Flatbush coach). Fans and spectators at home were treated to an exhilarating and entertaining live stream by famed social media personality and sporting announcers "Mexican-cappucino" and Sabon.
The game started with Flatbush's Rina Fatiha scoring two quick baskets to put the NY team in the lead. The NY girls maintained the lead throughout the game until the final quarter. During the final quarter the NJ girls took over the game with tenacious defense, blocks, and rebounds. The game ended with NJ ahead 59-54. A spectator stated, “It was unreal energy in the building!”

9 National All Stars came together for a weekend in Salt Lake City to play basketball and gain leadership skills as a jewish athlete. Thank you to Athletes for Israel and Rabbi Aryeh Weilwho ran the leadership training and sponsoring the weekend. The girls spent shabbos at Salt Lake City Chabad and were joined Friday night by the Utah Lady Prospects, a top AAU team in Salt Lake City for dinner where they got to know about each other’s religions and find out we have more in common than we thought. We then got to play against them Motzei Shabbos at the Utah Jazz practice facility. Over the weekend we met and sat down with various players and staff in the NBA. Such as Cavs coach Kenny Atkinson, NBA player Donovan Mitchell, Celtics VP Allison Feaster and Coach Joe Mazulla. Thank you Shalhevet coach, Ryan Coleman who flew in to coach the girls for a team practice and the game. Thank you SLC Chabad Rabbi, Rabbi Zippel, for inspiring all of us and going above and beyond to make us feel welcomed. The basketball was incredible but the experience was so much more.
